Frequently asked questions

Questions, answered plainly.

The things everyone asks — about passwords, security, plans and what happens when it's time. If yours isn't here, ask us directly.

I

The basics

A professionally managed inventory of your entire digital life — every account, subscription and digital asset — matched with clear instructions for what should happen to each, and who it belongs to. It's encrypted, kept current with scheduled check-ins, and released only through verified executor release. Think of it as the missing piece of a modern estate plan.
No — it completes it. Your will says who inherits; your Directive makes sure they can actually reach it. The two are designed to work together, and we're glad to coordinate with your solicitor on complex estates.
When you finalise and digitally sign your Directive, you receive a one-page NYLK Certificate to attach to your existing will. It tells your executor a Directive exists, and exactly how to activate it — without revealing anything sensitive.
Yes. You can attach letters, videos and legal documents alongside your instructions — all protected by encryption at rest and in transit, and released with the rest of your Directive.
Anyone with a digital life — which is now everyone. In practice: families protecting photos and memories, individuals wanting one tidy plan, business owners documenting domains and systems, crypto holders with self-custodied assets, and creators with channels, revenue and IP. Security & privacy

No — and we never will. NYLK records what accounts you have and what you want done with them, but never your passwords, private keys or recovery phrases. We hold the map, not the keys.
For most estates, storing only your phone PIN is sufficient. Your phone unlocks your password manager, authenticator apps and email — which gives your executor everything they need, without NYLK ever holding a sensitive credential. It keeps your secrets safe and honours digital-estate best practice.
Your Directive is protected by strong encryption both at rest and in transit. Access is gated by multi-factor authentication and our executor-verification workflow, so your information stays confidential until your nominated executor is properly verified.
NYLK is an Australian company, built and run from Melbourne, and we follow Australian privacy law. Your data lives on professionally managed, encrypted infrastructure with redundant backups and disaster-recovery protocols.
Your data remains encrypted and accessible. We maintain redundant backups across redundant infrastructure, and our disaster-recovery protocols ensure continuity. In the unlikely event of closure, clients would be given a transition period to export their data, with full support.

Plans & membership

Onboarding, guided setup with an account manager, your signed Directive and certificate — plus your entire first year of membership. Full pricing details →
Twice-yearly sessions with a real person — 30 minutes on Individual plans, 45 on Family — to keep your Directive matched to the life you actually live: new accounts, closed ones, changed wishes, new people.
Yes — after the first year (which is included in setup), Individual renews at $699 / year or $69 / month, and Family at $1,499 / year or $145 / month. All prices AUD.
Because a Directive only protects your family if it's current and standing when it's needed. The minimum keeps your plan alive through at least three check-in cycles — genuinely settled, not a document that quietly expires.
Business & Complex engagements start from $4,999 and are scoped to your needs — designed in collaboration with your solicitor or financial adviser, covering extended assets like companies, trusts, SMSFs, domains and client databases. Book a scoping call →

When it's time

Once NYLK receives a verified death certificate, your nominated executor is confirmed through our verification workflow. Your Directive is then released and decrypted on their device — and a NYLK specialist supports them step by step as they carry out your wishes.
That's exactly what Guided Executor Support is for — and it's included with every plan, valued at $1,500. A specialist walks your person through closures, transfers and memorialisation in plain English, at their pace, for as long as it takes.
Your nominated contacts are notified only in a genuine emergency — never before — with multi-channel alerts by email, SMS and phone. Activation is emergency-only and verified, by design.
Call us on 1300 695 528 — executor calls are answered first. If they held a Directive, we've been expecting your call. If they didn't, our recovery services can still help, and the free Executor's First 14 Days guide will steady the first steps. Preserve first; don't guess at passwords.
